HONORING GREEK-AMERICAN ACHIEVEMENT

United States Military Veterans

  Unveiling Bronze Plaque
  Unveiling Bronze Plaque
'In Honor of those who have served our country'
Welcome to our inaugural web site honoring Greek-American achievement.

The members of the Veterans' Committee of the Taxiarchae Archangels Greek Orthodox Church begin this effort by commemorating the exceptional courage and selfless sacrifice of our parishioners who were willing to put themselves in harm's way through military service in defense of our great nation.

For other parishes who may wish to acknowledge the service of their own members in a simliar way, we have documented our experience in building community support, getting newspaper coverage, installing a bronze memorial plaque in the Community Center, dedicating a memorial monument outside the Church, and organizing a veterans parade. We were sustained by the encouragement and moral support of community leaders including Governor Michael Dukakis, Archbishop Demetrios, Metropolitan Methodios, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Metaxas, and Rev. Fr. Theodore Barbas.

We trust that this valuable mentoring tool will greatly assist your parish in honoring its veterans of the United States Armed Forces. In navigating the site, you may realize that your questions have been anticipated; but as we are mere mortals, there is a venue set up whereby queries may be submitted.

The Taxiarchae Veterans' Committee understands that we may not have been the first out of the gate to honor our veterans; thus, to those parishes that have already done so, we salute you. The most important issue before us is to make sure that every man and woman of the Greek Orthodox faith who is a veteran of the United States Military be recognized.
